We’re massively proud to say we’ve won at this years Great Taste Awards. The Great Taste Awards are entered by thousands of food businesses from all over the country and all the produce is judged by a panel of extremely experienced judges, including famous chefs and food critics.
Following on from our gold award in 2014, we’re pleased to say that in 2018 we’ve come away with two Gold Awards for our famous Sweet Cured Bacon and ever-popular Moroccan Lamb Sausages. The judges had the following to say about both products:
Welsh Lamb Sausage with Moroccan Spices
Table 1: Lovely looking sausages with an inviting spicy aroma. Meaty, moist and well balanced with a delicate sweetness in them. The casings are soft and easy to cut and bite into. Well thought through recipe that works really well. Delicious.
Table 99G: A dark bronze sausage with a fairly smooth meat content and a touch of sweetness. There is lamb, chilli and sweet notes on the palate
Sweet Dry Cured Bacon
Table 5: These rashers certainly are worth a picture! They are thick and enticing. There is a good strip of fat and we are pleased to see the rind still on. The aroma is sweet and tempting. The balance of sweet and salt is lovely. The slices are tender and succulent. These rashers warm the palate by salty sweetness and the thickness really help develop the flavour as it grows as you chew. Great rashers, well done!
Table 3: Good looking pink rashers, quite thick and lean. The meat tastes really porky and sweet, the texture firm and with a pleasant mouthfeel, there is quite a salty aftertaste which balances out the brown sugar cure.
